What sets fantasy baseball aside for me is all the strategy that goes in. Some owners like crafty veterans while other want young prospects. There is no right way! It’s your team! You’re able to build it how you want!
I’m asking you all now to please get involved in a dynasty start up. I’m not trying to push my ideals on anyone but I promise you’ll thank me later! The excitement that builds inside of me this time of year can only be explained as Christmas 1989 and getting my first Nintendo. Only this time you get to relive that excitement over and over.
We all find our own way in terms of fantasy sports. There is no wrong way! Build how you want and build to maximize your enjoyment.
What I’m going to bring you this time around is a 14 team mixed league mock draft. 5×5 rotisserie scoring format. Which means, batting average, home runs, RBI’s, stolen bases and runs for hitters. Wins, saves, ERA, strikeouts and WHIP for pitchers.
ROUND 17
225. Steven Matz SP-New York Mets
Think he’s finally putting it all together? Don’t believe me? Look at his second half numbers.
226. Omar Narvaez C-Milwaukee Brewers
Omar is a solid hitter and should be MIL primary catcher. His splits are horrible but this late in a draft it’s not a big deal.
227. Merrill Kelly SP-Arizona Diamondbacks
Kelly got better as the season went a long. I’m excited for these young Diamondback pitchers.
228. Hunter Renfroe OF-Tampa Bay Rays
Guy kills your BA but helps with 30+ HR’s.
229. Mark Canha OF-Oakland Athletics
He messed with his swing last season. If he can get everyday AB’s he could be solid Ofer!
230. Adam Eaton OF-Washington Nationals
No issue with Adam here, he can get you some steals in the late rounds.
231. Giovanny Gallegos RP-St. Louis Cardinals
Gio was a top RP last season and he wasn’t even a closer! Draft and hope C-Mart is brought back into the rotation. Leaving Gio as the closer.
232. Mike Yastrzemski OF-San Francisco Giants
In baseball you’re never too old for a breakout!
233. Brandon Workman RP-Boston Red Sox
Officially the Red Sox closer. Workman had a career best 13.1 K/9 last season.
234. Gregory Polanco OF-Pittsburgh Pirates
If he can get over his shoulder issues then this pick is grand larceny.
235. C.J. Cron 1B-Detroit Tigers
Had a thumb issue last season and now in Detroit. Playing time won’t be an issue.
236. Andrelton Simmons SS-Los Angeles Angels
Not a superstar but easily a 15-15 guy. In this LAA lineup could push up his numbers.
237. Anthony DeSclafani SP-Cincinnati Reds
Added a few MPH to the fast ball. Hoping for 175+ K’s this season.
238. Brandon Nimmo OF-New York Mets
Back injury cost him cost him a ton of time but played well in September.
