Just like that it’s Wednesday! I had a conversation last night with a friend about the importance of telling the truth. Not trying to get heavy but we must be aware of our actions and the consequences they cause.

Given this platform and my article, I found this extremely important. Giving my opinions and advice has to come from a place of honesty. Whether its good or bad I have to own it. Win or lose I own it.

If I’m always honest then I don’t have to worry about what I said and to who I talked with. The joy of playing DFS is the fact we can start over the next day. Good or bad honesty plays a huge role. It allows me to follow my gut and give you the best possible advice.

Keep in mind on DraftKings they will NOT be offering the STL @ ANH game on their slate tonight!

Last night our FD Main line finished very well!

Yesterday I had a lot of positive feedback on the defense-man one off segment! With the 14 team stacks given already I’d like to think I left no stone unturned. One off wingers or centers doesn’t seem that important.

Hot Pucking Stacks presents a NEW feature! One off DEFENSEMAN! If you’re like me I fill out my offensive roster first THEN double back to plug in defense. Normally I choose the cheapest D-man with the most ice team. Power play minutes is huge for me when choosing my defensive skaters! Enjoy the new segment!

Bryan Rust L2 & PP1
Evgeni Malkin L2 & PP1

The Sabers are in Pittsburgh this afternoon after just losing to Ottawa. The Sabers are 18-40-3 their last 61 games vs. the Penguins. PIT has dominated them. What I love most about this one are the amount of shots PIT takes. Those rack up fantasy points and no secret they turn to goals. Over/under this afternoon is at 6. 4-2 or 5-1 final tonight! PIT wins!

Jonathan Marchessault L2 & PP1
Paul Stastny L2 & PP1
Reilly Smith L2 & PP2

The Florida Panthers are in Vegas tonight and the Golden Knights are huge favorites. The o/u here sits at 6.5 goals. Tied for the highest projected goal total tonight. FLA goalie Sergei Bobrovsky gave up 5 goals on 40 shots his last time out. Vegas is riding a 4 game winning streak while FLA is 0-6 their last six games against winning teams. Both teams need to pick up the pace for a playoff push but Vegas scores 3 or 4 times tonight! I’m “ALL IN” on Vegas tonight!

Artemi Panarin L2 & PP1
Ryan Strome L2 & PP1
Jesper Fast L2

The San Jose Sharks are in New York tonight. SJ is only scoring 2.4 goals a game while NYR is averaging 3.3. The Sharks are 6-2 in their last 8 games with 0 rest. That recond gets blemished tonight in New York. Digging deeper, the Sharks are 1-4 their last 5 vs. NYR and 0-4 their last 4 vs. the Rangers. New York is the favorite tonight and projected at around 3.5 goals. They live up to the projection tonight and win 4-1.

William Nylander L2 & PP1
John Tavares L2 & PP1
Denis Malgin L2 & PP2

Carolina is in Toronto tonight and this one should be fun! The over/under sits at 6.5 and I see every bit of that tonight! Petr Mrazek gave up 4 goals on 35 shots his last start. While the Maple Leafs beat Pittsburgh 4-0 their last contest. What I noticed is that CAR has had some success on the second game of back-to-backs. Due to that fact I like CAR to some extent tonight. Ultimately TOR wins 4-3 or 5-4. As you know who cares who wins, its about goals and points! Stack this one heavy!!!

Andrei Svechnikov L1 & PP1
Sebastian Aho L1 & PP1
Teuvo Teravaninen L1 & PP1

See above! Stack CAR @ TOR tonight!

Tomas Tater L1 & PP2
Nick Cousins L3 & PP2
Brendan Gallagher L1 & PP2
Nick Suzuki L2 & PP2
Jeff Petry (defense) L2 & PP2

MTL is in Ottawa tonight having lost 5 of their last 6. Not the biggest vote of confidence right? However they have averaged 3 goals a game. MTL has won 5 of 6 and 7 of 10 against OTT. Montreal isn’t a team people are excited to stack tonight. That’s fine with me! As you know a nice mix & match of these guys to fill your lines could pay dividends! Tatar and Gallagher are at the top of that list!

Valeri Nichushkin L2 & PP1
JT Compher L2 & PP2
Joonas Donskoi L2 & PP1

Lets show some love Colorado’s second line tonight! The Avalanche are scoring 3.6 goals a game and we all know that first line is lights out! Looking deeper into this match-up the Ducks have actually had COL number! Just a gut feeling COL2 gets loose for a few goals tonight. While COL1 is battling and toughing it out COL2 sneaks up on everyone! 4-2 or a 4-1 final tonight in Anaheim.

Here are few one offs I think we can mix and match!

Jason Zucker PIT L1 & PP2

New acquired Zucker has already made an impact! He’s been placed on the first line with Crosby and only good things can happen!

Lars Eller WSH L3 & PP2
Jakub Vrana WSH L2 & PP1

Cale Makar COL L1 & PP1

William Karlsson VGK L1 & PP2

Karl is cheap and in a sweet spot. VGK vs FLA o/u sits at 6.5 and as you read earlier I’m “ALL IN’ on Vegas tonight! He makes for an awesome one off!

The rookie stud defense-man skates with the first line AND the first power play unit! Talk about action! The exposure and upside with Maker is through the roof!

Main 2-22

Hot Pucking Stacks 2/19/20

Every day is a fresh start for both our real lives and our fantasy lives! Evgeni Malkin was a super late scratch last night. He left warm-ups early then the Penguins pulled him due to, “illness’. It didn’t matter much as you can see below.

Tough to win anything substantial with a 0.0 but we’re on to today!

Hot Pucking Stacks 2/5/20 (TWO FREE lineups)

Thanks for joining me again on Hot Pucking Stacks! Last night was wild! Most massive slates are nuts! The Washington Capitals won and Ovi had a hat trick! Montreal 2 had a great evening, 2 goals, 1 assist and 8 SOG! Calgary 2 was quite, Johnny scored once but it was a flop on such a big slate. Tampa Bay had a big night stats wise. TB1 accumulated 2 goals, 3 assists and 4 SOG. My New York Islander PP1 was a massive flop. Blue Jackets first line was even worse! Between the three skaters they only had 6 SOG.

With NHL DFS we have to forget fast and move ahead quickly! So tonight that’s what we will do! It’s a small two game schedule and there is a clear path to points!

Toronto Maple Leafs @ New York Rangers
Boston Bruins @ Chicago Blackhawk’s

At first glance I think its best to stack the TOR @ NYR game! The over/under implied goal total is 7! That’s a massive number in hockey terms! So as you will see shortly any combo of Maple Leafs and Rangers will do! Obviously we will want both top lines. We should also get creative with stacking those lesser known lines!

Zach Hyman L1
Auston Matthews L1 & PP1
Mitch Marner L1 & PP1

The Maple Leafs have the highest implied goal total tonight at 3.5. It would be really tough to fade Toronto tonight. Their top line is expensive and rightfully so. If you’re going to spend up tonight then choose Toronto 1!

Alexander Kerfoot L2
John Tavares L2 & PP1
William Nylander L2 & PP1

The Maple Leafs second is as effective as any second line in the NHL. For purpose of DFS they are a tad cheaper and you get awesome exposure to the top power play.

Artemi Panarin L2 & PP1
Ryan Strome L2 & PP1
Jesper Fast L2

The Rangers have an implied goal total at 3.2. Lets follow suit and stack their first or second line. Or we can do a sweet combo as listed below!

Phil DiGiuseppi L1
Mika Zibanejad L1 & PP1
Pavel Buchnevich L1 & PP1

The Rangers first line is ridiculously cheap aside from Mika. So its give you the chance to mix and match the NYR first power play unit too! There is a lot of room to move around in this one!

Jake DeBrusk L2 & PP1
David Krejci L2 & PP2
Karson Kuhlman L2

The Bruins second line tonight is very juicy far as value is concerned. All three are priced perfectly. With a total goal implication of 3.2 it’s a safe bet this line scores a goal or two. Given the need for a value line tonight with the expensive prices for TOR1 this line fits very well!

Brandon Saad L2
Kirby Dach L2 & PP1
Patrick Kane L2 & PP1

Any line that has Patrick Kane skating in is always a go! This guy averages 1.22 point per game. Meaning, the other two skaters on the second line stand a chance at assists, goals and a healthy +/-. Much like the NYR2, Kane’s line mates are super cheap!

Tonight will be a nice exercise in double dipping power play lines and lines with or without their star skater. Here is a photo of the different lines and combinations and how I’m stacking them tonight!

Here are a few sample lineups I’ve been toying with since last night! Use these for fun and please play responsibly!

Hot Pucking Stacks 2/1/20 (THREE FREE lineups)+after hours

Thank you for all the well wishes in regards to my mother. Thank you!

Tonight is massive slate of games! Eleven game main, three game express and a two game after hours!

I’m going to concentrate on the main round of hockey then add in a stack or two for each of the smaller slates.

Eleven games and twenty two teams! This has me extra excited! You should know me well enough by now but I’m still going to mention double dipping and those fantastic cheaper plays!

The Detroit Red Wings are hosting the New York Rangers this evening. So you all know what that means! STACK AGAINST the WINGS!

Artemi Panarin L2 & PP1
Ryan Strome L2 & PP1
Jesper Fast L2
Anthony DeAngelo (defense) L1 & PP1

No shocker here but the Rangers are the favorite today at 64.9 %. As it stands now they are projected around 3.3 goals. No fancy stats or analysis here. Stack Rangers please!

Alexander Kerfoot L2
John Tavares L2 & PP1
William Nylander L2 & PP1

No surprise here right? The Maple Leafs have a 73.7% chance of winning tonight along with highest projected goal total of 3.9. This line is moderately price and well worth it tonight. If you wanted to go full blown stack then add Tyson Barrie who plays on the second line with these guys and also anchors the first power play unit.

Johnny Gaudreau L2 & PP1
Sean Monahen L2 & PP1
Buddy Robinson L2

Upon further review I was shocked to see the Flames as a home favorite against the Boilers. Edmonton won 4-2 last night at home vs. the Blues. If any of you buy into that back to back tiredness or coming out flat rational then here’s your chance! Hop on Calgary who is projected to score 3.4 goals with a 62.3% chance to win. That actually might work out in our favor!

Max Pacioretty L2 & PP1
Chandler Stephenson L2
Mark Stone L2 & PP1

This contest is split down the middle tonight. Actually closer then I thought once I started looking around. The play for me here are the two defenseman who run with the second line.

Nick Holden L2
Shea Theodore L2 & PP1 & PP2

Theodore plays on the second line and BOTH power pay units! At $5,400 on Fanduel he will return every dime of his cost!

Alex Steen L3 & PP2
Robert Thomas L2 & PP2
Tyler Bozak L2 & PP2

All three men are around 14 minutes a night and see time together on the second power play unit. Another game that is quite even far as percentages and goals scored. Due to that fact I see a hard fought scrappy game won with scrums in the corner. The Blues are the tougher team here. STL3 is a sneaky sneaky play! Very cheap too!

Luke Kunin L3
Marcus Foligno L3
Joel Eriksson EK L3

The Wilds third line isn’t going to light the world on fire. The Boston Bruins are in town and it should be a fast paced bing bam boom kind of game. They are all cheap allowing you to stack a stud top line with stud defense-man.

Anze Kopitar L1 & PP1
Alex Iffalo L2 & PP1
Adrian Kempe L3 & PP1
Tyler Toffoli L2 & PP1
Alec Martinez (defense) L1 & PP1

I’m digging deep tonight! That’s why I get paid the big bucks! The Kings are favorites tonight at home vs. the Ducks. 56.6% chance to win tonight and in all honesty I don’t think anyone on earth will be paying attention to the Kings tonight. Perfect chance to roster them cheap with no ownership!

Taylor Hall L1 & PP1
Connor Garland L1 & PP1
Christian Dvorak L1 & PP1
Phill Kessel L2 & PP1
Oliver Ekman-Larsson L1 & PP1

The Blackhawk’s are awful at killing penalties yet the spend around eight minutes a game shorthanded. The Coyotes are home favorites tonight with a 59.2% chance to win. Chicago hasn’t played since last Tuesday! The Tuesday before the all-star break! I couldn’t believe it! While Arizona has played twice this week. Take about being rusty and flat! Coyotes jump all over the Hawks tonight. You’ll want a piece!

Andreas Johnson L3
Pierre Engvall L3
Kasperi Kapanen L3

Tampa is on a little west coast trip right now. They beat the Ducks 4-3 last night and they should jump all over the Sharks. They are once again a road favorite and projected to win at 63% Normally it’s all about the Lightening first line but I can see the third unit getting some more minutes going away!

Here are a few sample up lines and how I’ve worked in my stacks. Per usual, these are for fun! Play safe & responsible!

NYR1 & LApp1

The after hours slate is ANH @ LA and TB @ SJ

Here is a TB1 stack and with a mix and match of Duck skaters. Tonight its quite simple! Stack Tampa Bay!

Hot Pucking Stacks 1/31/20 (4 FREE lineups)

January is finally coming to an end! January and February feel like six months when it’s snowing and cold here in Michigan! There is a lot of good hockey on tonight! A few heavyweight match-ups.

I got started last night due to all the excitement! It’s a busy slate tonight with seven games on tap. Many high priced studs! Hopefully you trust my opinion and my research. Before we get into tonight lets review last night.

Montreal 1 did all the damage in this one. A portion of the Coyotes stack paid off while the Nashville defensive came up big with a goal, 6 SOG, 2 assists and 4 blocked shots. The line pictured below finished with 157 points!

DFS cheat sheets has been on a tear lately with our hockey content! Almost certain we keep it going tonight!

As I looked into tonight’s hockey action one thing stuck out. Find the best top stud line then mix and match it with a teams lowly 3rd or 4th line. That creates potential for a deadly combination!

My toughest decision was between four different top lines tonight. Boston 1, Edmonton 1, Pitsburgh 1 or Tampa Bay 1. Lets talk this out and see what we can come up with!

You know the drill by now. Stack the team who plays against the Detroit Red Wings on a nightly basis. The Wings haven’t played in well over week. They aren’t good to begin with so the Rangers are looking quite juicy this evening!

Ryan Strome L2
Jesper Fast L2
Pavel Buchnevich L2
Tony DeAngelo (defense) L2

Adding Tony D on your roster is a smart move tonight. He anchors the second line AND also plays on the first power play unit. He’s around 19-20 minutes of ice time a game.

Jared McCann L2
Evgeni Malkin L2 & PP1
Bryan Rust L2 & PP1

This second line has the most potential to produce like a top tier heavily priced line. As you can see Malkin and Rust skate on the top power play line with Crosby. Their price is perfect!

Carl Hagelin L3
Lars Eller L3 & PP2
Richard Panik L3
John Carlson (defense) L1 & PP1

Aside from the Rangers and Tampa Bay the Capitols hold the 3rd highest win probability. The Caps at Ottawa does have the highest over/under goal implication tonight. Washington also has the highest goal scoring projection and margin of win tonight to boot. Their top line also doubles as their top power play unit and the price of each skater reflects that.

If we construct our rosters right tonight we can fit in John Carlson. As it stands now John is the #1 overall ranked defenseman. Rightfully so given his production. 13 goals, 47 assists, 60 points, 145 SOG while playing 24+ minutes a night. He’s the most expensive defensemen tonight but well worth it.

Danton Heinen L3 & PP2
David Krejci L3 & PP2
Karson Kahlmen L3

These three men are dirt cheap far as pricing on Fanduel. I expect BOS @ WPG to be a points fest. Goals, assists and shots on goal. The Bruins top line is too expensive for my liking. Enter BOS3! Cheap with massive upside.

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins L2 & PP1
Leon Draisaitl L2 & PP1
Kailer Yamamoto L2

As we move down the list the stacks are becoming more expensive. The reason I cannot fully endorse ED1 with Connor McDavid is all based on their opponent this evening. They are underdogs at home tonight vs. the St. Louis Blue. The Blue are stingy on defensive and I don’t expect EDM 1 to hit value at their expensive pricing. Enter EDM 2. A tad cheaper with exposure to power play unit one.

Nikita Kucherov L1 & PP1
Steven Stamkos L1 & PP1
Brayden Point L1 & PP1
Victor Hedman (defense) L1 & PP1

My big money stack of the night! Three of these men are top notch far as pricing is concerned. Of the big name players and teams I mentioned to start the article, this group has the most potential to go crazy! Start these skaters with confidence and watch the points accumulate!

I have been fooling around with line combos since last night. If you look at my sample lineups you will see rosters mixed with high potential firepower and a dash of value. Constructing productive rosters for tonight came easy. That isn’t always a good thing.

Hopefully you’ll be able to see my thought process through the sample lineups I have provided. As usual these sample lines are to be used for fun! Please play responsible! As you can see in these two sample lineups it’s hard to get away from BOS 3 tonight. Very cheap with such high upside. Here is an example of a mix and match MAIN line.

NHL Main

AFTER HOURS NHL is pretty straight forward. A nice mixture of Tampa Bay and Edmonton should be all you need! Although both will high owned be careful who you mix and match. Here is what I’m thinking for late night.
