Do you know why hockey is the best? Yesterday afternoon in Detroit two childhood friends got into a fist fight for fun! Detroit Red Wings star Dylan Larkin squared up against his best friend, Zach Werenski!
Larkin and Werenski were roommates at the University of Michigan during their tenure as student athletes. Larkin even left Zach’s parents tickets for the Monday hockey matinee. What a flex!

In a post-game interview Dylan said, “I was kind of late to the pile,” Larkin told reporters. “I didn’t like it, and I think as I tried to jump in, I elbowed Zach, and that didn’t make him happy, and we fought.” While Zach stated, “We were laughing a little,” Werenski said. “We weren’t holding back. I was trying to win the fight, and I think he was as well.”
The drive and competitive nature of professional athletes is so high sometimes it boils over into odd ways. Fist fighting in an ice hockey game has always been the draw. A game within the game. In the early 1990’s NHL teams would roster an enforcer. Someone to help keep the peace and guard over their stars. Bob Probert is the first name that comes to mind. Probert had many battles with several skaters during that time.
The NHL has started to frown upon fist fighting during their games but have yet to fully remove it. Why would they? It is part of the fabric on hockey! Let us turn our attention to today’s NHL slate. Eight games in total and the first puck drop is at 7p EST. Have fun and as always do not be afraid to mix-and-match these lines!
Florida 1

Carter Verhaeghe L1 & PP2
Alexsander Barkov L1 & PP1
Anthony Duclair L1 & PP2
The Panthers had an offseason! They added several high-flying studs. Personally, I believe they have one of the strongest collections of top-6 skaters in hockey. Tonight, they welcome in Chicago. This game is tied for the highest o/u of the night (6.5). I could easily make a case for a full game stack of this one. Florida is projected to win 62.3% and score 3.4 goals. Get some Florida Panther in your lines tonight!
New York Rangers 1

Chris Kreider L1 & PP1
Mika Zibanejad L1 & PP1
Pavel Buchnevich L1 & PP2
The New York Rangers host the New Jersey Devils tonight. Pavel has scored twice this season on 5 SOG (shots on goal) and is also +2. NYR are projected to win 59.2% and score 3.1 goals tonight. If you are only looking for a one off here it is Pavel Buchnevich.
Ottawa PP1

Brady Tkachuk PP1 & L1
Josh Norris PP1 & L1
Evgenii Dadov PP1 & L2
Drake Batherson PP1 & L1
Thomas Chabot (D) PP1 & L1
The Senators have only played two games (1-1-0). Yet defenseman Chabot has scored a goal on the power play. There really is not much data out there in terms of PP percentages given the fact is super early in the season. If you look at each Senator listed above, you will get exposure to their top-2 lines along with the PP1 unit. Each player is perfectly priced, and we can mix-n-match using this line.
Next up is a full game combo stack for Washington Capitols at Pittsburgh Penguins. This game has the highest o/u of the night (6.5) and boasts an impressive collection of stars.
WSH1/PIT2

Alex Ovechkin L1 & PP1 Jason Zucker L2 & PP2
Nicklas Backstrom L1 & PP1 Evgeni Malkin L2 & PP1
T.J. Oshie L1 & PP1 Bryan Rust L2 & PP1
PIT1/WSH2

Jakub Vrana L2 & PP2 Jake Guentzel L1 & PP1
Evgeny Kuznetsov L2 & PP1 Sidney Crosby L1 & PP1
Tom Wilson L2 & PP2 Kasperi Kapanen L1 & PP2
As you can see below, each combo fits in perfectly together! We can play around with our defensive combos and starting goalies. Be mindful of PIT RW Kasperi Kapanen status before lock. In the event Kasperi is not in the top-6 adjustments will be made on my end!
It is an exciting time friend! As the NHL season starts to heat up so will Hot Pucking stacks!

Here are some sample lines I am going to be using. Keep in mind these are for entertainment purposes only.
