Hot Pucking Stacks 2/26/20 (4 free lineups)

Tonight is more my speed! A three game Main slate! Also an two game After Hours slate. As you read on you’ll see chalk plays like LVK1 and COL1 but you’ll also notice PIT4 or COL4. It’s a very small slate so you eat chalk. There is no surprise if that makes sense.

I’ve never bought in to the idea of, “chalk” but I get it. Again, with tonight being so small and compact, “chalk plays” go out the window. You will need these top ranked lines to keep pace with the field. What will set us apart tonight are the one offs and/or those odd line combos

After some close consideration this is what I’m working with tonight!

COLORADO 1

Gabriel Landeskog L1 & PP1
Nathan MacKinnon L1 & PP1
Valeri Nichushkin L1 & PP1

COLORADO 4

Mark Barberio L3
Vladislav Kamenev L3 & PP2
Logan O’Connor L3

Colorado is home tonight riding a three game winning streak. Buffalo comes to the Pepsi center and I wouldn’t touch them with your FD/DK account. Buffalo has played well but they are miserable on the road. Not to mention COL is fantastic at home this season. By the way BUF is 1-7 vs. COL their last 8 games. Colorado wins 4-2 or 5-1.

PITTSBURGH 2

Connor Sheary L2 & PP2
Evgeni Malkin L2 & PP1
Bryan Rust L2 & PP1

PITTSBURGH 4

Patrick Marleau L3
Jared McCann L3 & PP2
Patric Hornqvist L3 & PP1

The Penguins are averaging 3.3 goals a game and have split their last 12. They travel to LA tonight to play the Kings. Rust leads the Pens in goals (23) while Malkin leads the team in assists (41). The Kings have lost 8 of their last 11. At a glance one would think this game is going to be lopsided. Once you dig in and read a little you’ll see LA has had some success vs. the Penguins as of late. Winning four of the last five. At this current moment in time these teams are heading in opposite directions. The Kings have had no consistency on defense and the Pens win here 4-2.

LAS VEGAS 2

Jonathan Marchessault L2 & PP1
Paul Stastny L2 & PP1
Reilly Smith L2 & PP2

LAS VEGAS 1

Max Pacioretty L1 & PP1
William Karlsson L1 & PP2
Mark Stone L1 & PP1

Vegas is rolling right now riding a six game winning streak! They are home tonight and welcome Edmonton into T-Mobile arena. The home team is 5-2 in most recent match-ups in this series. Edmonton lost to the Ducks last night but their most recent acquisition Andreas Athanasiou scored! EDM is playing their second game of a back-to-back tonight and expect Mikko Koskinen in goal for the Oilers tonight. Vegas is home favorite and I can see a ton of people flocking to EDM1 tonight. Rightfully so but I’m going in a different direction! Vegas wins tonight 4-2 or 5-3.

EDMONTON 2

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins L1 & PP1
Leon Draisaitl L1 & PP1
Alex Chiasson L2 & PP1

Can’t call EDM2 a sneaky play tonight but it’s a fantastic line to pluck a one-off from! All three skaters play on the top power play line and we all know what Leon is about. EDM is 0-6 in their last Wednesday games. That’s such an odd statistic but info I think is important! Again, we don’t care who wins! It’s about goals and points!

Hot Pucking Stacks 2/23/20 (FREE lineup Sunday)

I can’t remember the last time a slate was such a no-brainer slam dunk such as this one. On the flip side, that only means I’m going to get burned. Isn’t that how DFS works?

The days we love our lineups are the days we crash and burn! The nights we throw our lineups together quickly with no edits are the big money nights.

Right? I can’t be the only one!

Hot Pucking Stacks 2/17/20

This weekend was beautiful and the hockey action was fantastic. Today is Presidents Day so we have an earlier lock with the Main contest.

4p Main (5 games)
6p After Hours (2 games)

I had a few questions yesterday in regards to my sample lineups compared to the stacks I list. When I research I find line combos and skaters that are in good spots. When sharing sample lines it is a mix and match of the different ways I see fit to use the skaters I like.

Of course we all have our way to research and build lines. There are also many different ways to accumulate points. Ideally it’s not a good move to stack an entire line against the opposing goalie but one skater isn’t going to bury your goalie.

It’s all a process and over the years I’ve tried many different ideas and combinations. We all have our own way and that’s the beauty to this. I’m thankful for all the readers and comments I’ve received.

LAS VEGAS 1

Jonathan Marchessault L1 & PP1
Paul Stastny L1 & PP1
Reilly Smith L1 & PP2

LAS VEGAS 2

Max Pacioretty L1 & PP2
William Karlsson L2 & PP2
Mark Stone L2 & PP1

Marc-Andre Fleury has been cruising this season at 22-14-5. The Golden Knights welcome in the Washington Caps tonight. Vegas has been great at home but Washington has been strong on the road. Vegas out shot the Islanders last time out 20-4 in the second period then 15-9 in the third. Vegas is buzzing around on the offensive side of the ice and all those shots immaculate points. I can see a 4-3 final tonight. Plenty of points to go around in this one!

WASHINGTON 1

Alex Ovechkin L1 & PP1
Nicklas Backstrom L1 & PP1
Tom Wilson L1 & PP2

WASHINGTON 2

Jakub Vrana L2 & PP1
Lars Eller L2 & PP2
T.J. Oshie L2 & PP1

Washington is 19-7 their last 26 road games. The Caps are among one of the best teams in hockey this season. They are also 7-1 vs. Vegas in their last 8 meetings. There is too much value with the Caps here tonight. Expensive salaries and all. As stated about I envision a 4-3 or 5-3 final tonight. Capitols win!

FLORIDA 1

Jonathan Huberdeau L1 & PP1
Aleksander Barkov L1 & PP1
Elias Lindholm L1 & PP1

Head to head the Panthers are 5-1 their last 6 games vs. the Sharks and 7-1 vs. the Sharks in San Jose. Both teams have picked up their play as of late and due to that fact SJ is favored at home. The Panthers however have a legitimate shot at putting some point together and getting into the playoffs. Might seem silly but I believe these factors play big roles in a hockey games! Florida wins 4-2 or 4-3.

CALGARY 1

Johnny Gaudreau L1 & PP1
Sean Monahan L1 & PP1
Elias Lindholm L1 & PP1

The Flames have lost 7 of their last 11 games. Not a real strong opening statement when pushing Calgary tonight. However, the Flames are scoring 2.8 goals as of late and converting on 20.8% of their power play opportunities recently. Lindholm leads the team in goals (27) and Gaudreau leads with assists (35) while Monahan has 146 total shots on goal. This line is very effective and should be given plenty of chances tonight home vs. the Ducks. The Flames have beat the Ducks twice this season with a combined score of 8-1! Calgary wins at home tonight 4-1!

NEW YORK ISLANDERS 1

Anders Lee L1 & PP1
Mathew Barzal L1 & PP1
Jordan Eberle L1 & PP1

Arizona welcomes the Islanders in tonight having lost 9 of their last 12 games. The Coyotes are giving up 2.7 goals a game and have been awful killing penalties. Arizona has given up three or more goals in their last 11 of 14 games. While New York has won 7 of the last 10 games vs. the Coyotes. From what I’ve seen so far today people are liking the Coyotes in this one after a great game vs. Washington. This doesn’t excite me! Lets zig when others zag! Roster NYI1 tonight! You won’t be sorry!

Here are a few one offs that deserve our attention tonight!

Steven Stamkos TB @ COL $8,400

Joonas Donski COL vs TB $3,700
