Hot Pucking Stacks 3/2/20 (4 FREE lines)

Today is an odd circumstance. Only two games on the NHL schedule. One of which being extremely lopsided.

At this stage of the season the playoff picture is starting to take shape. On the flip side, some games become more one-sided.

As it stands now hopefully you understand the difference between chalk, value and being contrarian. Only reason I mention that is due to a heavy Colorado Avalanche influence tonight.

Meaning, COL1 & COL2 are going to be EXTREMLY high owned. Which is fine, we just need to come up with a plan to attack the slate in another way. Or attack it along with COL while adding in other stacks and players that will set our lines apart.

Still following? Hopefully! So follow me as we journey through this small yet complicated slate!

Gabriel Landeskog L1 & PP1

Tonight will be a test of our DFS skill. Tonight will take a sharp line with a winning strategy.

FD Main 3-2

I’m providing my normal MAIN sample line along with a contrarian line. The contrarian line is meant to show an odd way to attack this slate. On such a small schedule I’m cool with entering a single entry GPP without COL.

FD Contrarian 3-2

None of us can predict the future but if COL comes out flat and DET hops all over them our plan just might work!

DK Main 3-2

Make sure to keep an eye out for an updated line closer to 7:30p lock!

Hot Pucking Stacks 2/8/20 (THREE free lines)

Tonight is another monster! Fanduel has been nice and broken it down into 4 different slates!

2p All Day 12 games
2p Early Only 2 games
7p Main 10 games
10p After Hours 2 games

At this point you know where my head is. 2p Early Only and 10p After Hours. Both are small 2 game contests. Best bet for cash and GPPs. Smaller slates increase our odds. I’ve said it a millions times, these massive 10+ game slates are next to impossible to hit top 10 in a GPP. Better chance at winning the lottery.

So instead, here are 6 different team stacks to be used at your discretion. You’re more then welcome to use them as you see fit. As we get into you will see how the team stacks correlate to the different timed contest.

I’m going to give you a few stacks AND a sample line for each slate!

2p EARLY ONLY (2 games)

Nikolai Ehlers L2 & PP2
Blake Wheeler L2 & PP1
Mason Appleton L2

The Jets have the highest goal implication for early only at 3.3. They are also a home favorite this afternoon vs. Ottawa. The Sens have scored around 2.69 goals a game while giving up 3.04. The Senators are 1-4 in their last five and I see this game going over the 6 goals its set at. Jets win 5-3!

Brad Marchand L1 & PP1
Patrice Bergeron L1 & PP1
David Pasternak L1 & PP1

This one is obvious! The Bruins are one of the best teams in hockey right now and its mainly due to their first line. On a small slate like Early Only we need that stud line to keep pace. Last five games ARZ is 1-4 while BOS is 5-0. An early afternoon game is Boston just screams blowout. BOS wins 4-1!

Early Only

Here is my sample line for Early Only! Use is or lose it! Please play responsibly and know this line is to be used for fun!

7p MAIN (10 games)

This is the meat of today’s action! Here are four team stacks I like for main and should you have you right in the thick of things!

Blake Coleman L2 & PP1
Travis Zajac L2
Nikita Gusev L2

The Kings are in New Jersey tonight and both teams are not very good. Again, don’t care who wins! I care who scores! The Devils are riding the high of beating the Flyers 5-0! While the Kings are 29th overall in goals scored and 24th in goals allowed. The Devils at home mop the ice with the Kings tonight! Final 4-2!

Artturi Lehkonen L2
Nick Suzuki L2 & PP1
Joel Armia L2 & PP1

As a true blue hockey fan an Original 6 match up on a Saturday night is fantastic! Both MTL and TOR are very close on the defensive side stat wise. TOR doesn’t take many penalties so the Canadians will have to work hard for their goals and points. I like a close scrappy game in Montreal tonight. Final score 4-3, TOR wins but 7 goals total is nice for the fantasy stat sheet!

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins L2 & PP1
Leon Draisaitl L2 & PP1
Kailer Yamamoto L2 & PP2

The Predators are giving up an average of 3.23 goals a game while Edmonton is scoring 3.17 goals a game. The Preds have been playing well as of late going 4-1 in their last 5. While the Oilers are 3-2 in their last 5 losing two in a row. Edmonton gets right tonight and wins 4-2. EDM2 chips in two goals and the Oilers PP1 puts one in too!

Alexander Ovechkin L1 & PP1
Nicklas Backstrom L1 & PP1
Tom Wilson L1

The Capitals are also one of the best teams in the NHL. Their record shows that and they are over flowing with talent. Ovi and defense-man John Carlson are playing out of their minds and look for more of the same this evening. The Flyers struggle on the road and WSH wins 5-2 or 6-2. Does OVI have another hat trick in his this week? I sure hope so! Capitols roll tonight and we reap the benefits!

Here is my sample line for MAIN! Use is or lose it! Please play responsibly and know this line is to be used for fun!

10p AFTER HOURS (2 games)

After Hours tonight is my favorite and its quite juicy! As you read on you’ll see why!

Tanner Pearson L2
Bo Horvat L2 & PP1
Loui Eriksson L2

Vancouver is hosting Calgary tonight. The over/under tonight is at 6 goals. I see the over hitting and VAN2 being a huge part of this. Not to mention Bo Horvat also seeing PP1 ice time. VAN2 is responsible for 93 total points and 27 total goals. This game is going to be closer then I originally thought. Canucks win 3-2 on a late goal in the 3rd period!

Andrei Svechikov PP1 & L1
Sebastion Aho PP1 & L1
Justin Williams PP1 & L3
Teuvo Teravainen PP1 & L2
Jaccob Slavin (defense) PP1 & L1

The men on this first power play unit have scored 68 goals combined and a whopping 183 points! Four of these men play on the Hurricanes first line as well. Carolina’s first line and their PP1 just rains points! They are in Vegas tonight which should be a close one. 4-3 Vegas wins but CAR gets us where we need to be! IN THE MONEY!

Hot Pucking Stacks 2/6/20 BONUS (FREE after hours line)

By now you should all know smaller after hours slates are my absolute favorite! Tonight at 9pm there is a three game after hours slate.

SJ @ EDM 930P

Its too juicy and I couldn’t pass up an opportunity to share it with all of you!

The key for tonight is stacking Edmonton. Problem is, every other person tonight knows that too. So we need to get crafty and a little sneaky with what teams we stack with Edmonton tonight.

So lets dig in and find some players and opposing lines that will get us over that hump!

Sam Gagner L1
Connor McDavid L1 & PP1
Josh Archibald L1

Statistically speaking the Oilers second line is much better. Only reason why Edmonton 1 plays so well is because of Connor. Kid is ridiculous. Gagner and Archibald are stupid cheap but their upside only goes so far. They skate with Connor on the first line but do not play on either power play. My strategy tonight is all about the right combo of Oilers. I wouldn’t be doing my job if I didn’t mention EDM1 but there is more to the story here…

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins L2 & PP1
Leon Draisaitl L2 & PP1
Kailer Yamamoto L2 & PP1

Now we’re talking, these are the three skaters you want in your lines tonight. Throw in Connor and it’s a cant miss stack. Only problem which I mention early is ownership. Edmonton skaters are going to be extremely high owned. That’s ok, in cash games that’s what you want. Keep pace with the crowd then add in a wild card to push you ahead of the group.

Rocco Grimaldi L3
Nick Bonino L3
Viktor Arvidsson L3 & PP2

Nashville @ Calgary is a crap shoot today far as who gets the win. To be honest, I don’t care who wins. What I do care about is goals and points. The Predators first two lines are average while their third line is in the green rankings wise. These men on the third line are cheap and if they pop tonight as planned were talking big money!

Andrei Svechnikon L1 & PP1
Sebastion Aho L1 & PP1
Justin Williams L4 & PP1
Teuvo Teravainen L2 & PP1

Carolina is in Arizona tonight. Given the fact we’re looking to stack for Oiler skaters we can’t go full CAR stack but we can mix and match. Justin Williams and Warren Foegele are the two we’re looking for tonight. They are both below $3,500. Justin skates on the top power play while Warren skates on the first line. At those prices mixed with this type of opportunity it’s a no-brainer!

Here are a few one offs I like as well to fill out our rosters…

Kevin LaBlanc L2 & PP1 (SJ v EDM)

Here we have the perfect price with massive opportunity. Kevin has a ceiling at around 25 points tonight. Mind you, that’s pretty aggressive projection but realistically 10-12 fantasy points @ $4,400 it’s a great return.

Mikael Granlund L1 & PP1 (NSH @ CGY)

Mikael is in a good spot tonight skating on both top lines for the Predators. At his price of $4,700 he’s on the ice 17-18 minutes a night and a ceiling around 26 points. At his price a few shots on goal or an assists and its all good.

Connor Garland L1 & PP1 (ARZ vs. CAR)

This one is just means and opportunity. Skating on both the first line and the top power play unit at only $4,500 he’s a nice plug and play.

Here are two sample lines for NHL After Hours. Per usual, these lines are for fun and please play safe!

Hot Pucking Stacks 2/6/20 (TWO FREE lineups)

Back at it tonight with 12 games! Tonight is broken down into four separate slates. Main, express, Express II and after hours.

We’ve taken our time here and have come up with eight different line combos. Some expensive and some cheap lines. It was very confusing at first glance but the numbers spoke to me. They told me to follow my heart!

Gabriel Landeskog L1 & PP1
Nathan MacKinnon L1 & PP1
Mikko Ratingen L1 & PP1

Valeri Nichushkin L2 & PP2
Nazem Kadri L2 & PP1
Andre Burakovsky L2

I’m going to lump both Colorado lines together in this one. They jumped off the page to me right off the bat. That first power play line is going to do some damage tonight in Ottawa.

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins L2 & PP1
Leon Draisaitl L2 & PP1
Kailer Yamamoto L2 & PP2

Edmonton’s second line is actually ranked higher and a little better then their first line! All thanks to Leon and Ryan Nug! They both play on the first power play with Connor. That’s really what we’re after here. McDavid is at 1.49 points a game. So the trick here is to get a piece of him without his spending up on his crazy high salary.

Ilya Kovalchuk L2 & PP2
Nick Suzuki L2 & PP1
Joel Armia L2 & PP2

Montreal is a home favorite tonight vs. the Ducks. The Canadians have a 3 goal implication tonight and I think they meet it with ease!

James van Riemsdyk L1 & PP1
Claude Giroux L1 & PP1
Travis Konecny L1 & PP1

The Flyers are another team who jumped off the computer screen at me today. The Devils are in Philly tonight and they are a massive underdog. Look for the Flyers top line to exceed their 3.4 implied goal implication. Fire up their top line with confidence!

Johnny Gaudreau L2 & PP1
Sean Monanhan L2 & PP1
Buddy Robinson L2

Back to the Calgary 2 well again! Nashville is in Calgary tonight and its completely split down the middle! Goal implications and all! Their second line is a tad pricy but could pay dividends on the power play.

Jeff Skinner L3 & PP1
Evan Rodrigues L3 & PP2
Rasmus Asplund L3

The Red Wings are in town tonight so I wouldn’t be upset if any of you went with BUF1 and Jack Eichel. Buffalos third line is a nice way to get some salary relief.

Jaden Schwartz L2 & PP1
Brayden Schenn L2 & PP1
Robert Thomas L2 & PP2

The Blues are favorites tonight at home against the Jets. They are projected win at 70% with a 3.3 goal implication. Most people will flock to the Blues first line. Best production will come from their second line.

Oh boy! I’d be an idiot not to mention this one. Loaded with massive stars but all at extremely high prices. Best thing I can tell you is look for a few one offs on each 1st or 2nd line. Like Pittsburgh’s Jared McCann or Dominik Simon. Both play on the Penguins top line with Crosby and they are both under $5k.
Same principles apply for Tampa Bay. Ondrej Palat and Tyler Johnson come to mind. Both play on the Lightening second line and get some PP2 minutes. They are both under 5k as well!

Happy hunting! As always these lines are to be used for fun! Please play responsibly!

Hot Pucking Stacks 1/31/20 (4 FREE lineups)

January is finally coming to an end! January and February feel like six months when it’s snowing and cold here in Michigan! There is a lot of good hockey on tonight! A few heavyweight match-ups.

I got started last night due to all the excitement! It’s a busy slate tonight with seven games on tap. Many high priced studs! Hopefully you trust my opinion and my research. Before we get into tonight lets review last night.

Montreal 1 did all the damage in this one. A portion of the Coyotes stack paid off while the Nashville defensive came up big with a goal, 6 SOG, 2 assists and 4 blocked shots. The line pictured below finished with 157 points!

DFS cheat sheets has been on a tear lately with our hockey content! Almost certain we keep it going tonight!

As I looked into tonight’s hockey action one thing stuck out. Find the best top stud line then mix and match it with a teams lowly 3rd or 4th line. That creates potential for a deadly combination!

My toughest decision was between four different top lines tonight. Boston 1, Edmonton 1, Pitsburgh 1 or Tampa Bay 1. Lets talk this out and see what we can come up with!

You know the drill by now. Stack the team who plays against the Detroit Red Wings on a nightly basis. The Wings haven’t played in well over week. They aren’t good to begin with so the Rangers are looking quite juicy this evening!

Ryan Strome L2
Jesper Fast L2
Pavel Buchnevich L2
Tony DeAngelo (defense) L2

Adding Tony D on your roster is a smart move tonight. He anchors the second line AND also plays on the first power play unit. He’s around 19-20 minutes of ice time a game.

Jared McCann L2
Evgeni Malkin L2 & PP1
Bryan Rust L2 & PP1

This second line has the most potential to produce like a top tier heavily priced line. As you can see Malkin and Rust skate on the top power play line with Crosby. Their price is perfect!

Carl Hagelin L3
Lars Eller L3 & PP2
Richard Panik L3
John Carlson (defense) L1 & PP1

Aside from the Rangers and Tampa Bay the Capitols hold the 3rd highest win probability. The Caps at Ottawa does have the highest over/under goal implication tonight. Washington also has the highest goal scoring projection and margin of win tonight to boot. Their top line also doubles as their top power play unit and the price of each skater reflects that.

If we construct our rosters right tonight we can fit in John Carlson. As it stands now John is the #1 overall ranked defenseman. Rightfully so given his production. 13 goals, 47 assists, 60 points, 145 SOG while playing 24+ minutes a night. He’s the most expensive defensemen tonight but well worth it.

Danton Heinen L3 & PP2
David Krejci L3 & PP2
Karson Kahlmen L3

These three men are dirt cheap far as pricing on Fanduel. I expect BOS @ WPG to be a points fest. Goals, assists and shots on goal. The Bruins top line is too expensive for my liking. Enter BOS3! Cheap with massive upside.

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins L2 & PP1
Leon Draisaitl L2 & PP1
Kailer Yamamoto L2

As we move down the list the stacks are becoming more expensive. The reason I cannot fully endorse ED1 with Connor McDavid is all based on their opponent this evening. They are underdogs at home tonight vs. the St. Louis Blue. The Blue are stingy on defensive and I don’t expect EDM 1 to hit value at their expensive pricing. Enter EDM 2. A tad cheaper with exposure to power play unit one.

Nikita Kucherov L1 & PP1
Steven Stamkos L1 & PP1
Brayden Point L1 & PP1
Victor Hedman (defense) L1 & PP1

My big money stack of the night! Three of these men are top notch far as pricing is concerned. Of the big name players and teams I mentioned to start the article, this group has the most potential to go crazy! Start these skaters with confidence and watch the points accumulate!

I have been fooling around with line combos since last night. If you look at my sample lineups you will see rosters mixed with high potential firepower and a dash of value. Constructing productive rosters for tonight came easy. That isn’t always a good thing.

Hopefully you’ll be able to see my thought process through the sample lineups I have provided. As usual these sample lines are to be used for fun! Please play responsible! As you can see in these two sample lineups it’s hard to get away from BOS 3 tonight. Very cheap with such high upside. Here is an example of a mix and match MAIN line.

NHL Main

AFTER HOURS NHL is pretty straight forward. A nice mixture of Tampa Bay and Edmonton should be all you need! Although both will high owned be careful who you mix and match. Here is what I’m thinking for late night.
