Hockey DFS has always been my first love. Not sure how many of you know that. It has been nothing but football for six months. Every day, every minute all the time. Which is fine but it is also nice to have several other interests.
Over the past six months we have gotten to know each other. Chat on podcasts, crack jokes on various broadcasting sites and share ideas on social media. Most importantly we have built trust together. You have trusted my advice and DFS knowledge all season. For that I cannot thank you enough.
So now, I am asking you to trust me again. Let us take on hockey together. Trust me with your NHL DFS advice. Let me guide you through another season. If you have played NHL DFS before then let us continue to grow and learn together. If you have not played NHL DFS before let me teach you. Let me help you. Let us have some fun!
Day 1 of the 2021 NHL season is upon us. Much like the start of any new season its all about finding a way. Lines are still in flux. Powerplay units are being worked out on the fly. Which is the case for much of the season but getting a lead on a hot line takes some time. Not much, I promise you. So, at this stage of the season let’s roster the studs and watch the rest fall into place!
Here it is! The first Hot Pucking Stacks of the season!

Where do I begin? The NBA has suspended their season. Tom Hanks has corona virus. March Madness will be played without fans. A few NHL teams are following suit now and not allowing fans to attend their games.
With Spring Training in full swing I can’t help but think they may suspend play. This virus has officially caused widespread panic. You can’t find toilet paper. Hand sanitizer has all but disappeared. Where a hazmat suit is now the new norm.
As it stands now I don’t know where we stand! Quite frankly, I have a feeling this gets worse before it gets better. In times of panic and when life seems grim there has always been one constant. Sports. This time around even that is in jeopardy.
Hockey players are cut from a different cloth. Loose 5 teeth? Need 15 stitches? No problem put me back on the ice. That leads me to believe the NHL will go on!
If you’re just discovering Hot Pucking Stacks because NBA DFS is suspended I welcome you! I’m sorry it has come to this but I welcome new readers. Hang here and let me walk through this hockey slate. Let me explain my process. Every storm runs out of rain and every virus dries up.
Tonight there are ten games on the NHL schedule. I’m in the business of bringing you a collections of stacks and one off plays to help build a monster lineup. Thank you for reading and I won’t let you down!
FANDUEL slate breakdown
Main 7p (10) Express 8p (2) Late Night 8:30p (3) After Hours 9p (2)
DRAFTKINGS breakdown
Main 7p (10) Turbo 8p (2) Late 9p (2)
WASHINGTON 1
Alex Ovechkin L1 & PP1 & PP2 Evgeny Kuznetsov L1 & PP2 Tom Wilson L1 & PP2
WASHINGTON 2
Jakub Vrana L2 Nicklas Backstrom L2 & PP1 T.J. Oshie L2 & PP1
Washington has beat up on my Wings recently winning 8 of the last 10. On an average of 2+ goals. The Capitals are a free square today!
Toronto has beaten Nashville 5 of their last 7 meetings. NSH has had trouble putting wins tonight. Toronto is too talented to blow this game.
ARIZONA 2
Carl Soderberg L2 & PP1 Nick Schmaltz L2 & PP1 Phil Kessel L2 & PP1
I’ve back Vancouver often but not tonight. They are on the road in Arizona, who is fighting for points and a playoff spot.
DALLAS 2
Denis Gurianov L2 & PP1 Roope Hintz L2 & PP2 Joe Pavelski L2 & PP2
The Stars have lost six in a row while Florida comes to town trying to get ahead of TOR for a playoff spot. That being said, DAL breaks out of their funk tonight.
LAS VEGAS 1
Jonathan Marchessault L1 & PP1 Paul Stastny L1 & PP1 Reilly Smith L1 & PP2
This has all the makings of Minnesota winning. Again, I don’t care who wins! We only care about goals and points. This one should be a fast paced wide open type of game. I like VGK to put in 2-3 goals tonight!
TAMPA BAY 1
Alex Killorn L1 & PP1 Anthony Cirelli L1 & PP2 Nikita Kucherov L1 & PP1
I’ve been quite high on Philly recently but that ends tonight. TB has beaten the Flyers 8 times the past 10 games. Tampa has also outscored them 11-5 during that span. Philly is no doubt hotter but TB has their number!
CAROLINA 2
Warren Foegele L2 Vincent Trocheck L2 & PP2 Martin Necas L2 & PP2
CAR @ NJ, two teams that have been off after the trade deadline. The Devils are finally home after 6 straight road games. The home team in this series has won 8 of the last 10 games. Not a glowing endorsement for Carolina right? NJ folds when it matters most. Give me CAR big tonight! 4-1 or 5-2!
MONTREAL 2
Charles Hudon L2 & PP2 Max Domi L2 & PP1 Brendan Gallagher L2 & PP1
MTL is the favorite tonight vs. a Buffalo team who is horrible on the road! The home team has won 6 of the last 9 in this series. Buffalo folds and Montreal gets 3 or 4 goals in this one!
No fans will be in attendance tonight in Columbus. That will take the air out of the arena. PIT is very talented but they haven’t put it all together yet. The Penguins are no doubt the better team and will flex their muscle tonight in CBJ.
Hot Puck has put it all together! Your one stop shop for NHL DFS! I’ve listened to all of you! I’ve read the comments and emails! By popular demand, Hot Pucking Stacks presents our lightening round of BOTH offensive one offs AND Defensive one offs!
Mixing and matching is my favorite way to attack a smaller slate! Find one stud line to use then mix and match the rest! Are you ready? Good! Here they are!
