2020 Fantasy Football Mock Draft (Round 4)

2020 Fantasy Football Mock Draft (Round 4)
Chris Robin https://twitter.com/DetroitBeastie

Football is upon us! In terms of drafting the content is a little early. The big names have already built projections and published books and magazines. Being early is not a bad thing. If you’re like me too much content isn’t a thing. Given the current situation across the county mock drafting and fantasy football discussions are needed!

Normally the fun leading up to the fantasy football draft season is talk of the top 10. Or who is the consensus number one. This season it’s quiet clear. Right?

What sets fantasy football aside for me is all the strategy that goes in. Some owners like crafty veterans while others want all rookies. There is no right way! It’s your team! You’re able to build it how you want!

I’m asking you all now to please get involved in a dynasty start up. I’m not trying to push my ideals on anyone but I promise you’ll thank me later! Fantasy football is a 365 24/7 kind of commitment!

We all find our own way in terms of fantasy sports. There is no wrong way! Build how you want and build to maximize your enjoyment.

I’m going to get into a mock draft series and publish the results! 12 team, full PPR scoring. Also six points per passing touchdown. I’m in a unique position to set the rules as I see fit. Lets get right into it!

Minnesota Vikings WR Adam Thielen

37. Adam Thielen WR-Minnesota Vikings

With the departure of Diggs does Adam get more coverage? Of course, but talent always wins out. Thielen has that and is a PPR monster! He’s a set it and forget it kind of guy.

Seattle Seahawks RB Chris Carson

38. Chris Carson RB-Seattle Seahawks

Carson injured his hip last season but looks to be fully healthy for the start of 2020. Another personal favorite of mine. Can he finally become that workhorse RB1 we know he can be?

Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes

39. Patrick Mahomes QB-Kansas City

What can I say here that you don’t already know? Kid is stud, draft him. Good enough?

Atlanta Falcons RB Todd Gurley

40. Todd Gurley RB-Atlanta Falcons

Gurley now plays in Atlanta. All I’ve heard is stay away and his knees are shot. I’m not buying into that. Todd immediately finds himself in the top 10 running backs to start the season. Draft him accordingly.

Los Angeles Rams WR Cooper Kupp

41. Cooper Kupp WR-Los Angeles Rams

Another PPR stud WR! Look for Cooper to keep up the catches, yardage and touchdowns. Absolutely possible he catches a 100 balls in 2020.

Atlanta Falcons WR Calvin Ridley

42. Calvin Ridley WR-Atlanta Falcons

Another forgotten guy. A guy who plays second fiddle to Julio. That alone makes my mouth water. When Julio is on field he commands respect and coverage. Meaning Calvin is able to run free.

Indianapolis Colts WR T.Y. Hilton

43. T.Y. Hilton WR-Indianapolis Colts

Health! Health! Health! Can T.Y. stay on the field? I sure hope so! When he’s on the field he’s lights out. I find the addition of Phil Rivers very intriguing. Call me crazy but I believe T.Y. can really climb the WR ranks this season.

Tennessee Titan WR A.J. Brown

44. A.J. Brown WR-Tennessee Titans

Ah one of my favorite fantasy WR’s! Kid had a phenomenal 2019 season! I firmly believe this will be the last season you can get him this cheap. Tennessee captured some magic last season and I see no reason why they can’t do it again in 2020.

New York Jets RB Le’Veon Bell

45. Le’Veon Bell RB-New York Jets

Do me a favor, go look into Bell and report back. Looks like he won’t be attending the Jets off season program. While coach Gase has said he never thought Bell was a good fit with the team. His contract is massive so he knows they won’t cut him. Basically he can do what he wants. It’s a very odd situation in New York. Regardless, when Bell is on the field he’s an asset to your fantasy team. Who knows what the future holds with Bell and the Jets.

Pittsburgh Steelers RB James Conner

46. James Connor RB-Pittsburgh Steelers

I’m really digging Connor in 2020 and the upside that’s involved. With Big Ben likely back and healthy the Steelers should be able to fire on all cylinders. Ben, Juju and Connor is a great real life combo. Grab a piece for your fantasy squad!

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz

47. Zach Ertz TE-Philadelphia Eagles

Ertz is a high end option at tight-end. Another guy who shows up each week and does his job.

Chicago Bears WR Allen Robinson

48. Allen Robinson WR-Chicago Bears

A-Rob put up a career high in receptions in 2019. Another guy who flies under the radar in fantasy circles. He’s a ho-hum kind of guy that produces for your fantasy team. No issue with drafting Robinson here.

That’s it for round 4!

Hang here for Round 5 tomorrow! What would your round 4 look like?

How about round 5? Let me know in the comments!

New kid on the block Ethan Cowlbeck is picking up the rest of my mock draft series in 2020! Be nice to him and show him some love! He’s young, hungry and looking to make his mark! Good luck Ethan!

2020 MLB Mock Draft (Round 5)

What sets fantasy baseball aside for me is all the strategy that goes in. Some owners like crafty veterans while other want young prospects. There is no right way! It’s your team! You’re able to build it how you want!

I’m asking you all now to please get involved in a dynasty start up. I’m not trying to push my ideals on anyone but I promise you’ll thank me later! The excitement that builds inside of me this time of year can only be explained as Christmas 1989 and getting my first Nintendo. Only this time you get to relive that excitement over and over.

We all find our own way in terms of fantasy sports. There is no wrong way! Build how you want and build to maximize your enjoyment.

What I’m going to bring you this time around is a 14 team mixed league mock draft. 5×5 rotisserie scoring format. Which means, batting average, home runs, RBI’s, stolen bases and runs for hitters. Wins, saves, ERA, strikeouts and WHIP for pitchers.

57. Victor Robles OF-Washington Nationals

I have seen a lot about the importance of steals heading into this season. This mock draft is 5X5 categories league. Steals are important! Victor has speed no doubt! His pop is what scares me. Can he maintain that BA he upped in the second half of last season? His speed is elite and at only 23 I’m buying into his plate judgment! The upside here is just too much to pass!

58. Clayton Kershaw SP-Los Angeles Dodgers

We all know the name. He’s around 2,500 innings pitched packed onto that arm. He made fewer than 30 starts for the 4th season in a row. Spent time on the IL too. His velocity has fallen and he’s throwing his secondary stuff more often. He had a lower than usual BABIP and his strand rate was the highest in the NL. I get it, we all know the Dodgers are managing his load and giving him extra rest when needed. He’s still a top notch pitcher. Just not that stud #1 overall guy anymore.

59. Whit Merrifield 2B-Kansas City Royals

Second base is weak this season and Whit is a rock solid option. The steals were cut in half. From 45 to 20 last season. 20ish should be the new normal for Whit moving forward. He set career highs in runs, hits and triples. His BA remained steady all season and he been durable the last few years. I’d be happy to have him in the 5th round!

60. Lucas Giolito SP-Chicago White Sox

Finally showed us that breakout we all heard about from his prospect days! Plus the strikeouts are awesome! His second half fade was him just being tired. Which I like cause we can get him cheaper. All the red flags and the home runs in gave up in the second half can all be blamed on exhaustion. I wont list them but the Sox signed Yasmani Grandal, Gio is only going to get better! Buy, buy BUY!

61. Keston Hiura 2B-Milwaukee Brewers

I’m shocked he’s going so late. In other mock drafts this has been his spot. Are people worried about his health? He has a .938 OPS as a rookie and his bat-to-ball skills mixed with 25+ HR’s makes my mouth water. Lets not forget double digit steals and a BA of .270. I’d be shocked if he fell this far in your real life draft. Just a heads up!

62. Josh Bell 1B-Pittsburgh Pirates

As I said in Goldy’s little bio first base gets mediocre very fast. Bell has only hit 20 homeruns once in his career. Then he went deep 37 times last season and it came out of nowhere. 77 extra base-hits which is 30 more then any other season. So its safe to have doubts going into the 2020 season. I’m a fan of his far as baseball is concerned but let someone else draft him for fantasy purposes. Sorry Josh.

63. Eloy Jimenez OF-Chicago White Sox

Power and average! Are you ready for an even better season? 31 homers as a rookie in his age-23 season makes for a fantastic debut! His OPS of .828 was better than Goldy, Realmuto AND Hoskins! His BA is going to get better and 100+ RBI isn’t a dream. Last time you’ll be able to draft him this late EVER.

64. Luis Severino SP-New York Yankees

His 2019 was ruined by injuries. At least he finished strong. Should be able to grab him here which will wind up being a massive discount!

65. Tommy Pham OF-San Diego Padres

The Padres have made some awesome moves! They are going for it! Has a big ground ball rate and that caps his power. His plate discipline and speed is where its at. 25 HR, 75 RBI and 20 steals is realistic. Plus he makes the kids around him better. San Diego hit a home run with this one!

66. Max Muncy 1B-Los Angeles Dodgers

This one is going to be short and sweet. 30-90 potential with 1B/2B/3B eligibility. That LA roster is stacked top to bottom.

67. Carlos Correa SS-Houston Astros

His health remains my biggest issue. His fly ball rate has increased each season since 2016 which is a good sign! He’s a good hitter on good team but I’m not buying much of him. He’s also playing for a new contract, keep that in mind!

68. Chris Paddack SP-San Diego Padres

Chris should be the teams Opening Day starter. Meaning, he’s the guy! He pounds the strike zone with mid-90s gas and a filthy change up. The Padres never let Paddack top 100 pitches in a game and they shut him in September. Who are we to judge? Guess what? This season all bets are off! Kid gloves are off and the sheriff will top 200 innings and 200+ kids. A star is born!

69. Bo Bichette SS-Toronto Blue Jays

Bo didn’t have a ton of plate appearances last season which is fine! We can get him cheap before the breakout! .270 AVG 30 HR/80 R and in 15-20 SB is a legit with Bo in 2020. Will wind up being a better all around ball player then Vlad in Toronto. Yeah I said it!

70. Joey Gallo OF-Texas Rangers

Batting average has been weak spot. Was well on his way to a career season before the injury. What I noticed is his ISO was higher then ever while he raised his BA to a solid number, for him. His BABIP was extremely high and his K rate rose. He lead the AL in OPS for some time which is nice. Two things here.
1. Due to the injury you may be able to get him cheap.
2. Everyone knows this could be his career season and he’s expensive.
It’s your job to figure that out before or during your draft. Spoiler, drafting him is the right move!
