The Genesis Open

Course

The PGA Tour will continue its west coast swing this week with a stop in Los Angeles at Riviera Country Club. Riviera Country Club is a 7,192 yard track and Par is 71. Riviera features 3 Par 5’s (1 on the Front and 2 on the back) 11 Par 4’s and 4 Par 3’s. The Par 4 10th hole is the famous risk reward hole that will offer the opportunity to lay it up, or go for it. There is plenty of trouble around this golf course featuring Kikuyu grass and Poana Greens.

Weather

Things should warm up this week. Pebble beach was windy and cold, winds this week should stay under 10 mph and temps in the mid to high 60’s. All and all this should be a sun filled event with light winds and gusts topping 13mph.

Field and Cut

The field this week at the Genesis is a pretty stacked one featuring nine of the top 10 players currently on the Official World Golf Ranking list. The cut line this week is the Top 65 and ties after the first two rounds.

Rory Mcllroy
Brooks Koepka
Jo Rahm
Justin Thomas
Dustin Johnson
Tiger Woods
Patrick Cantlay
Xander Schauffele
Justin Rose

Also in the field this week of not are Phil Mickelson (coming off a great week at Pebble Beach) Jordan Spieth (Back to Back Top 10’s) Bubba Watson, Sergio Garcia, Matt Kuchar and Hideki Matsuyama.

Recent Winners

2016 – Bubba Watson

A few things to note here, Dustin Johnson has finished 9th, 16th, 1st, 4th, 2nd in his last 5 stops at this tournament. Bubba Watson Skipped the tournament in 2017 however won the tournament in 2016 and 2018, finishing 14th in 2015 and 15th in 2019.
