EASTERN CONFERENCE FINALS GAME 1
MAY 9TH, 2019
The Eastern Conference Final begins tonight as the Hurricanes travel to Boston for game 1. The Hurricanes come off a sweep of the Islanders, while the Bruins come off three straight victories over the Blue Jackets.
Carolina Hurricanes @ Boston Bruins 8pm ET Boston -155
The Bruins come off a victory in game 6 on the road in Columbus closing out the Blue Jackets. The Bruins won the regular season series against the Hurricanes going 2-1-0 while the Canes went 1-1-1. The B’s will be without McAvoy who is suspended for game 1 of this series, a big loss on the blue line. Krug and Grzelcyk will need to step up on the back end in game 1 as both these guys will be logging more minutes with McAvoy out. Bergeron, Pastrnak and Marchand will need to be the best line in this series and continue to be effective for the Bruins. Krejci has been a gamer for the B’s as he has always showed up in the biggest of moments, and he has tallied 10 points in 13 games thus far in the playoffs. These players as well as Rask will need to be great for the Bruins tonight and throughout the series to get past the Canes. Carolina looked terrific in the second round, sweeping the Islanders just after the Isles swept the Penguins. This is the first time since 1993 that a team swept in the first round, only to get swept in the second round. This shows how strong this Hurricanes team is. Slavin leads the way with 11 points, followed by Staal, Foegele and Tarevainen who all have 9 points. After being knocked out by Ovechkin in a fight, Canes rookie Svechnikov has tallied 4 points in just five games. Hamilton and Williams have also been great for Carolina; look for all these players to continue their strong play against the Bruins, especially if they want to win the East and advance to the Stanley Cup Final.
