Hot Pucking Stacks 8/20
Chris Robin

Today is an odd occurrence. Actually not all that odd. Just very exciting!

The Stanley Cup Playoffs are starting to take shape! A few teams have been eliminated while a few others are on the brink.

Columbus, Carolina and Arizona have all been eliminated. While Montréal, Washington, Calgary and St. Louis all face elimination their next game.

Which brings us to tonight! The Islanders are up 3-1 in their series with the Capitals. While The Dallas Stars are looking to move on and end Calgary’s season tonight!

At this point my for love and excitement for hockey is very clear! It gets even more intense during an elimination game! NYI are up 3-1 in their series with WSH. DAL is up 3-2 in their respective series with CGY!

NYI (2.5) @ WSH (2.6) O/U 5.0

DAL (2.6) @ CGY (2.5) O/U 5.0

As you can see above the Caps and Flames are playing for their playoff lives tonight. Teams with nothing to lose and their back against the wall are very dangerous!

My DFS bread and butter has always been small two game slates! Enough fooling around! Here’s what I’m into tonight!

The Islanders have been a favorite stack for me all season and especially in the playoffs. Then are mean, gritty and very well coached! Barry Trotz is an outstanding hockey coach. He knows how to win and he has the respect of his players in turn, they play hard for him! Varlamov has been fantastic in goal too. He’s had a sub 2 GAA this postseason.

Washington is a championship team. Ovi is one of the best hockey players of all time and more times then not, the best player on the ice each night. The Caps are down right now but not out! This team can get hot and when they do it’s bad news for New York. WSH can score in bunches! Look for the Capitals to be on fire! Like their season depends on it. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a 4-1 or 5-2 final tonight!

Seven of their ten games, DAL v CGY has had five or less goals. Their last three games have averaged 4.6 goals. I have a weird feeling about this one tonight. Dallas can win and move on. Meaning it’s win or go home for the Flames tonight. I can’t stop thinking of a slow paced, grinding dump the puck and squirm in the corners all night kind of game. I love CGY2 tonight given the fact these kids only play on average 13-16 minutes a night. Going to be long and physical game. CGY2 gets major ice time tonight!

Looking at the Dallas side of things I like the idea of their second power play unit. In turn we’re also getting exposure to three of their four lines. I honestly don’t expect many goals scored at even strength tonight. This is going to be my kind of game! DAL sneaks one or two in on the PP tonight! Their SECOND unit!

Make sure to keep an eye out for an updated line closer to lock! 8p EST!
